Trump has threatened to suspend Both Chambers of the US Congress

U.S President Donald Trump has threatened to use a never-before-employed power of his office to suspend both chambers of the US Congress. It would enable him in making recess appointments to fill vacant positions within his administration because Senate Democrats are keeping empty during the COVID-19 epidemic. On Wednesday, Trump opened his daily coronavirus press conference by claiming about Senate Democrats blocking tens of his nominees. He offered few specifics on how the federal virus response might be different if a substantial amount of those individuals had been approved by the upper chamber. It is noteworthy that Article II, Section 3, Clause 3 of the US Constitution gives a special power to the President to recess both chambers if they can’t agree on an adjourned date.

President Trump said he would prefer not doing the adjournment order, but feels strongly he needs to make some appointments. Both chambers have been meeting in so-called pro forma sessions without the presence of legislators. US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is a Republican and controlling the chamber’s calendar. Point to be noted that Trump falsely said he had pushed over 445 federal judges through the Senate confirmation process, but the actual number is 200. Democrats have already criticized Trump and health experts about not setting up a considerable testing program by the US federal government.

Trump tried to shift the blame on testing to State Governors, on Tuesday night. On Wednesday night, he said the federal government is not going to run a parking lot from Washington, DC. Moreover, Trump said there will be a special announcement on Thursday afternoon during a daily Covid-19 press conference. He will supposedly give his guidelines to state chief executives to use individual plans for reopening their territories. Trump earlier insisted he has total power, but legal experts indicate it as doubtful under the US Constitution and existing statutes. So, any governor would need Trump’s approval in issuing individual reopening orders according to their state’s conditions.
