Trump to attend a Live Event with Biden on NBC News Network on Thursday
US President Donald Trump will appear in a live event on the same night after the cancelation announced for the presidential debate, report says. On Wednesday, the hashtag “BoycottNBC” started trending on Twitter with many people expressed their anger. Point to be noted that NBC has agreed to host the event with Trump after he refused to appear in the virtual presidential debate originally scheduled for the same evening. The event time and date was also scheduled for the exact same time as a town hall event with Joe Biden on a respective network. President Trump will appear on Thursday night at the Perez Art Museum in Miami, confirmed by NBC News on Wednesday. Joe Biden will also appear at ABC News on Thursday in Philadelphia.
Social media users including Twitter immediately appeared to express their feelings on the crossover and most of them condemned the decision. The co-founder of the Democratic Coalition, Scott Dworkin tweeted, “Shame on NBC for giving Trump a platform after he cowardly canceled the debate. But on the bright side, no one in the world does worse at town halls than Trump. No one. This will be delicious”. The actor of Star Trek, George Takei commented and said, “If NBC wanted to give Trump a platform after he backed out of the debate, why on earth would they schedule the town hall to overlap with Biden’s tomorrow night? How does that serve anyone’s interests? They should delay the Trump town hall until after Biden’s is done”.
It is noteworthy that both candidates will appear on the separate networks at the same time in appearances. A political analyst Jeff Greenfield tweeted and said, “The decision by NBC News to run a Trump town hall directly opposite ABC’s Biden town hall is indefensible”. The originally scheduled town hall event was changed to a virtual meeting because of President Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis on 2nd October. But, Donald Trump refused to join a virtual event scheduled for the second event on 15th October. However, the Commission on Presidential Debates canceled plans for the second event. NBC News said both had agreed to the event after the president submitted to an independent coronavirus test with the results reviewed by Dr. Anthony Fauci.
