The U.S President Donald Trump tweeted regarding oil prices as mourners gathered in Washington for George HW Bush‘s funeral. Trump said that he hoped the OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) would be keeping oil flows as is, not restricted. He added that the World doesn’t need to see much higher oil prices. His Twitter post came as dignitaries began to arrive at Washington’s National Cathedral for former president Bush’s funeral on Wednesday afternoon.

Trump said in an earlier Tweet that he was looking forward to being with the Bush family at the service, scheduled to begin at 11 am local time. He wrote on Twitter, “This is not a funeral this is a day of celebration for a great man who has led a long and distinguished life. He will be missed”!

He had tweeted just minutes ago about his hopes for an end to a trade war with China. He said that Beijing was sending very strong positive signals. He added: “Not to sound naive or anything, but I believe President Xi meant every word of what he said at our long and hopefully historic meeting”. Bush is said to have ensured Trump would be invited to his funeral, reportedly saying before his death he did not want to stiff a sitting president in spite of tensions between him and the Bush family.

Trump also met with the son of the late president, George W Bush, on the eve of his father’s funeral. The American leader traveled 230 meters to the meeting at the Blair House presidential guest house in a limousine with a motorcade. The service was preceded by 3 days of mourning during which Bush’s body lay in state at the Capitol Rotunda.
