Trump, You Have Blood On Your Hands: NYC Protesters
On Monday evening, a large number of demonstrators gathered along 5th Avenue Manhattan near Trump Tower. They were shouting angry expressions and holding signs with crossed-out Nazi symbols and Confederate imagery. The gathering has been considered a part of the continuous reaction against U.S President Donald Trump regarding his half-hearted response to the deadly disturbance sparked by a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in this weekend. Protestors were shouting “You have blood on your hands”. Some demonstrators informed the NBC News that they took to the streets of New York to criticize the U.S President. The incident took place just before Trump’s first official visit to his hometown since his selection as the U.S President.
71-years old Barbara Gates (a writer & editor from California visiting New York) who attended the protest with her sister Julie Spriggs said, “I needed to put my body where my heart is, what better place than the heart of it, Trump Tower”. She also said that she was scared by the events took place in Charlottesville, specifically the death of Heather Heyer. She died when a vehicle cropped down a group of protesters at the rally of the white supremacist. She had a sign stapled on her blouse mentioning “Unfit” with the text about 25th Amendments in the U.S Constitution, as it allows for the removal of a president from his office. She mentioned his response to the “wishy-washy” violence and it was condemned from both sides of the political blocs.
