Trump’s National Security Adviser John Bolton headed Anti-Muslim Think Tank
A news report published on Monday that recently appointed National Security Adviser by U.S President Donald Trump chaired a New York-based think tank drenched in misleading and false anti-Muslim news. NBC News reported that John Bolton led the Gatestone Institute from 2013 until he joined his White House position earlier this month. The institute has placed articles on its website’s homepage with titles such as “Belgium: First Islamic State in Europe”, and “UK: ‘Teacher Handbook’ Supporting Extremism”. The group mentioned itself as a non-enthusiast, not-for-profit international policy council. The think tank was dedicated to educating the public regarding what the mainstream media fails to report. A spokesman for the CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) Muslim advocacy group, Ibrahim Hooper informed NBC that the group is a key part of the entire Islamophobic industry on the internet.
Hooper said that the association of Bolton with Gatestone is much disturbing specifically given him now a prominent role in the White House. NBC indicated the group as one of the major sources of articles declaring Muslim-controlled “No-Go Zones” in Europe. These were pointed out by the U.S Senator Ted Cruz during his unsuccessful 2016 White House run, and by Bobby Jindal (former Louisiana Governor) in 2015. The media outlet discovered 4 cases in which Russian social media trolls retweeted from the Gatestone Twitter account. Point to be noted that all of them worked for the Russian government-linked Internet Research Agency. It has been sanctioned by the government of United States after it was indicted by a grand jury for allegedly working to interrupt in the 2016 White House race.
