UK Sanctions Could Initiate Cyber-attacks in Coming Days Around the world
Listen to this article

The UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Elizabeth Mary Truss issued a statement for the first time since Russian troops invaded Ukraine. She has announced a handsome list of sanctions against President Putin and his allies. The United States, United Kingdom, and Canada have designed a new list of sanctions against Russia.

Russia will become economically segregated to its foreign currency reserves after the implementation of new sanctions. It also includes Russian dismissal from SWIFT (international financial transaction system), which will paralyze its entire banking system.

Experts around the world have warned that President Putin could retaliate against the UK and its opposition. They also predicted that Russia has the potential and could launch a series of massive cyber-attacks at any time.

A Statement of Danny Lopez

The CEO of Glasswell (a cyber-security tech company), Danny Lopez informed a news outlet and warned for expected cyber-attacks by Russian hackers. He said that he considers such expectations and we should prepare well to handle such attacks in the coming days.

Lopez also said any other classification could be wrong because we spent months considering Russia Wouldn’t Do That, but he did it. However, cyber-attacks are believed to be a powerful and most effective way to create fear, confusion, chaos, threat, and disturbance.

The UK government should handle security concerns and take defensive measures with the issuance of a high state of alert in the country. Lopez believes the UK is expected to become under targeted cyber-attacks as a response to the sanctions on Russia. The UK could experience a threat of disruption and disorder with indirect attacks on the supply chain of targeted companies.

Lopez said he know that most cyber-attacks were planned in Russia and executed by state-sponsored cybercriminals. We should consider looking at the NotPetya cyber-attacks back in 2017, which left devastating impacts on the infrastructure of crucial services. This attack wasn’t designed to spread worldwide, but it did.

NotPetya Cyber-attack 2017

Point to be noted that Ukrainian computers were badly infected in 2017 with a disastrous malware ‘NotPetya’. It was rapidly spread around the world and various other countries reported infection including the US, France, Germany, Italy, and Poland.

Lopez also continued and said that the situation around the world is critical. Russia could launch a targeted attack against countries involved imposing sanctions against its deadly attack against peaceful Ukrainian people.

He said the reality is a quid pro quo world and powerful implementation of sanctions could undoubtedly lead to supposed cyber-attacks. Lopez added that there are many examples similar to the NotPetya 2017 attack. It is one of the unforgettable examples of attacks that were not essentially designed for countries.

But the recent interconnected digital world provided a way to become a simple attack as a global attack. However, the NotPetya attack wasn’t designed for the United Kingdom but it badly affected the country with massive devastations.

It is noteworthy that Ukraine has already effectively managed its own cyber-attacks against Russia. But the country last night requested South Korea to help and empower its position.

US President Joe Biden has presented a series of options and essential steps against President Putin. NATO countries and European Union are also looking for immediate offensive actions against Russia.
