Viral Video Clips showed Sky turned into Red in the Chinese Port City of Zhoushan

Many video clips and images went viral on Twitter and other social media platforms during the last couple of days. These images and video clips were showing a deep red color sky in the Chinese east coast city of Zhoushan. One of the video clips got more popular and several people shared it.

A Chinese social media website Weibo initially published the famous video clip. It was showing a view of the sky from a residential street. The video clip shows the sky in blood-red color and it became brighter towards the skyline. However, other clips also appeared showing a similar phenomenon.

The other video clips also showed a deep blood-red sky and a brighter source supposedly near the panorama. Almost all video clips individually received tens of thousands of views. Some people significantly approved of these strange video clips including a Twitter user Anonymous Operations.

A Catastrophe started in the Chinese City Zhoushan

Twitter users said it looks like the catastrophe has started in the Chinese urban area of Zhoushan. This statement also initiated conspiracy theories. Some social media users also pushed unapproved stories around secret government activities. The Global Times (a Chinese state media outlet) also demonstrated videos and red sky reports.

The Global Times reported on May 8 that the red sky appeared on Saturday, May 7 in Zhoushan city. It became one of the top trending stories on Weibo as these posts earned at least 150 million views. A couple of eyewitnesses in one of the video clips said that they had never experienced anything like this.

Saury Fishing Boats with Red LED Lights

The Chinese state media outlet also reported that meteorologists explained why this kind of phenomenon could happen. Moreover, meteorologists said it was cloudy, foggy, and muzzling around the time of the red sky. They said the reflection of light from fishing boats on low-height clouds could generate the scenario.

It is noteworthy that Saury fishing boats are using hundreds of red-tinted LED lights instead of white color for fishing. These red LED lights can create an astonishing effect when obtaining a massive number of lights in the same location. Moreover, the Zhoushan Meteorological Bureau said vaporizers in the atmosphere could deviate and spread the fishing boat lights.

A Massive Solar Storm can turn the Sky Blood-Red

The Live Science website said blood-red skies over China were also reported more than 2 centuries ago in 1770. Since then, researchers suggested that a massive solar storm could become the victim of sparking dawn. However, these types of solar activities could generate auroras in places where they don’t typically happen.

The Global Times reported on this event that solar and geomagnetic activities were found peaceful on Saturday. The media outlet referred to the space physics researchers of the Chinese University of Geosciences in Wuhan. Meanwhile, wildfires are considered another potential cause. One similar case was also reported in Indonesia in February 2019.

However, the smoky cloud from fire turned the sky red in Indonesia. A similar scenario happened during a series of forest fires in 2020 in the Western US. The eyewitnesses described it as a catastrophic scenario when the sky became red and orange. But there wasn’t any report of wildfires in recent days. The global fire map of NASA confirmed there wasn’t any significant hotspot in Zhoushan city.
