Was “Gay Conversion” Electroshock Therapy Supported by Mike Pence?
An image circulated on social media in the month of October 2016 claiming that Governor of Indiana Mike Pence (running mate of Donald Trump) is supporting “Gay Conversion” therapy, especially with the use of electric shocks as part of the practice. The claim was found in the back 2000, when Pence was running for Congress. At that time, his campaign website advertised his call to add a specification to the Ryan White (CARE) Comprehensive AIDS Resource Emergency Act. It was a 1990 law that provided funding for the treatment for HIV/AIDS patients living with the disease unavailability either with the income or the essential insurance for paying it on their own. The Congress must support for re-authorization of the Ryan White CARE Act after the finalizing of an audit in making safeguard that federal money support will not be provided to organizations to celebrate & encourage in spreading the HIV virus resources.
He didn’t say in any case it entirely; the position has been cleared largely about mentioning of the support of Pence for Gay Conversion therapy regarding looking to cure patients of being motivated to the members of the same sex. The American Psychological Association indicated that electric shock has been considered one of the methods that is being used to deal with homosexuality by conversion therapy. Pence had delivered his statement about the Ryan White CARE Act, so this group and several others such as the American Psychiatric Association already degraded this type of practice. Five States in the U.S has already banned the Conversion therapy according to the law and these States include New Jersey, California, Vermont, Illinois and Oregon, but Washington D.C also banned this practice.
