Why A Woman Placed in Federal Detention with Brain Tumor?
The U.S Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have indicated that a woman identified by her first name Sara, was discharged on 22nd February 2017 from a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. The officials also confirmed that she was taken to a detention facility in Alvarado, at least 17 miles away. Sara had been in the federal custody for at least one year when she was transferred to a hospital and diagnosed with brain tumor at the start of the month. Her attorneys blamed officials for mistreating her & confusing her in allowing for communication with her family. One of her family member said that the officials tied her hands and ankles in her critical medical condition. At the other hand, the spokesperson of ICE indicated that the allegation was officially false.
The agency indicated that Sara was transferred back in detention after confirming her stable physical condition. Sara was first entered into the United States in the month of November 2015 and examined by a specialist on 27th February 2016 in order to verify for her future treatment. The ICE also confirmed that she will be under the medical supervision by its own staff. She was first arrested due to crossing the U.S border on 4th November 2015. During an immigration hearing on 26th January 2016, she said that she was looking for asylum in the U.S due to her afraid that her aunt would kill her for dating a police officer in her native country. Point to be noted that ICE had confirmed about her clear record in the criminal history.
