Why Trump administration took more than 10 million U.S dollars from FEMA?
The administration of Trump took at least 10 million U.S dollars from the budget of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) during this summer to support boosting the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The announcement was just ahead of the expected landfall of Hurrican Florence in North and South Carolina. It was discovered by the U.S Senator Jeff Merkley and he initially shared the documents live on MSNBC on Tuesday. He also informed the USA TODAY that last year’s storm disasters from Hurricanes Maria, Irma, and Harvey initiated concerns that FEMA needs a significant amount of funds for the preparation of expected new disastrous hurricane season. Merkley said that it is almost possible that it will happen again, so it seems just terribly reckless.
The document titled as Department of Homeland Security FY 2018 Transfer & Reprogramming Notifications. The document has indicated that Trump administration took 9,755,303 U.S dollars from the budget of FEMA to support ICE and it is almost .9% of the agency’s listed overall budget. The document also said that Trump administration also took millions from other agencies, including the Transportation Security Administration, and the U.S Coast Guard in order to support ICE. The document lists the additional money was taken to help ICE detain immigrants along the southern border, fund beds in detention centers and remove undocumented immigrants from the country. The budget document also indicated that ICE must have sufficient detention bed capacity to detain illegal aliens when necessary as it enforces the Nation’s immigration laws as fairly and effectively as possible.
