Will the U.S Federal Agency EPA be Terminated?
A legislation introduced by a Republican congressman from Florida. The legislation was proposed to eliminate the federal agency EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), established in 1970 by then U.S President Richard Nixon. The major task of this agency was to protect human health & environment. This legislation was presented in the U.S House of Representatives on 3rd February 2017 by Republican Matt Gaetz. The office of Gaetz has informed that they haven’t yet finalized the draft of bill, but they provided some draft related information. It indicates that the U.S federal agency EPA (The Environmental Protection Agency) will be terminated by the end of December 2018. A lawmaker had already indicated in the Pensacola News Journal that after its approval, the functionality of EPA would be managed under the individual state jurisdictions.
Gaetz also mentioned in its Twitter account that this bill will not impact NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration). It is important that NOAA has monitored the rising sea levels in his state that have been accredited to climate change. The Huffington Post also indicated that Gaetz criticized the agency in an e-mail forwarded to his Republican colleagues.” The American people are sinking in rules & regulations made public by unelected bureaucrats. He added that the Environmental Protection Agency has become a strange suspect”. The bill of Gaetz was co-sponsored by 3 other GOP congressmen including Rep. Thomas Massie from Kentucky, Rep. Barry Loudermilk from Georgia and Rep. Steven Palazzo from Mississippi. It is important that the administration of Trump had freeze grant of EPA and implemented a funding in the month of January 2017.
